This 1907 Craftsman had seen it’s fair share of projects over the years. Taking an old kitchen down to the studs revealed not one, but two additions to the back of the home. We combined these two spaces to create a thoughtfully expanded kitchen.
The newly expanded kitchen features an eat-in dining nook and a large prep island in support of hosting friends and family for meals. The finishes for the project were Craftsman “with a twist” to play into the client’s fun, eclectic style.

DESIGN CHALLENGE
Incorporating an existing wall-mounted mini-split unit into the kitchen without it standing out. Can you spot it?
FAVORITE UNEXPECTED MOMENT
The clients have a love for ceramics and have collected many unique pieces over the years. We incorporated open shelving to display many of the pieces and worked with a local ceramics artist to create the custom pendants over the island. The morning spent in her studio selecting glazes was a highlight of the project.
